Hello, my name is Charisse, and I'm addicted to perfection. ("Hi, Charisse...")
Or I should say: I was, up until NOW. This video is my declaration of freedom!
First, I'd like to acknowledge the fact that it's been a little while since I last posted, and I regret that. Connecting with my tribe and sharing in service to the greater good, are both uber-important to me. So...
Expect to see a lot more from me, Field Correspondent from Your Happy Place - and High Priestess of Pleasure at ClaimYourFeminine.com!
And now: I have a confession to make. Over the last several months, probably no less than half a dozen times, and likely more, I have conceptualized, written, and/or even recorded material for this blog... and then... sat on it.
I could blame being too busy and preoccupied with the massive changes that have been happening in my life this year--but then, what goddess isn't in flux, right?! The moments of placid calm are blips on the radar in a lit-up life illuminated with growth and transformation - as it is for every awake woman.
No, if I were to be totally honest, there is a shadow reason for my silence. And it has to do with this idea - this self-imposed FICTION - of not being good enough. Of not being ENOUGH.
Can you relate? If you've never caught yourself passing on wearing a favorite outfit because you didn't feel in good enough shape to wear it... never bit your tongue in a meeting because you didn't feel what you had to say was important enough, or because it may rock the boat... or never written and rewritten an email, only to not send it anyway... this video is probably not for you.
But if you HAVE ever stopped yourself from full expression - because of some internal voice that whispered "not good enough," welcome... to the Group for Recovering Perfection Paralysis Addicts... This one's for you.
This week I conquered my perfection paralysis by whipping off a video with my handheld phone, in less than perfect lighting. I didn't redo my make-up, or put together a set, or make sure the camera angle was flattering . (Not that I won't usually consider those things, but I was trying to make a point here... if only to myself!!)
So my invitation to you this week is this:
What small (or big) act of freedom from perfection paralysis - what perfectly imperfect action - are you willing to do or take this week?
Is there an email that can be liberated from the drafts folder? A favorite necklace that you can wear to the office whether or not it "goes" with your outfit or position?
Where will you take a risk?
Be perfectly imperfect...
I want to hear about it, in the comments below!
Because you are enough. (You and me both, sister!)
