People often ask me: “Claim Your Feminine… what does that mean?” That is an excellent question!
What I find a good starting point is knowing what it’s not:
Claiming your feminine is not about striving to become some external ideal.
It’s not something outside of you that’s imposed upon you.
It’s not pink and lavender and beach-side walks in flowing floral-print dresses (AND it includes those things, too).
Feminine energy is something inside you – that already exists… (That has always existed).
It is an aspect of our being that has been, by virtue of living in a patriarchy, downplayed. Denigrated. And the delicate balance between the feminine and masculine is out of whack. How do I know? Because we are in the middle of an epidemic of women running on empty. Burned out. Out of balance.
So, as I was pondering what would be of most service to talk about this week, I thought, Let me consult the cards…
And, as I often do when looking for a little inspiration, I drew a card from Dr. Doreen Virtue’s Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards. (I love this deck!)
The one that popped up was: Guinevere, True Love: “The romantic stirrings in your heart have propelled the universe to deliver great love to you.”
So today’s message, delivered to me by Guinevere, is about romance. (Which, at first, I accepted with some reluctance… Romance? True love? That’s not what I wanted to talk about today! lol)
But then the more I thought about it, the more I thought: How perfect…
Romance, mmm… Sweet appreciation, flirtation... To be wooed, adored. Surprised with roses… Noticed and appreciated. Showered with attention.
Um, who doesn’t want more of that, right?!
But the key to Guinevere’s message is that it is the romance in your heart that propels great love to you: in other words, it starts with you! With us!
We often look to our partners, lovers, spouses for romance, more romance – and I encourage you to ask for all you desire from your partner! – and:
We cannot attract romance into our lives without first becoming romance, invoking it with the way we romance ourselves.
It is, in fact, a path to the Feminine – this romancing of ourselves, this invitation and receptivity to pleasure. The ability to receive, with grace… the ability to conjure what we desire by caring lavishly and exquisitely for ourselves… are fundamental womanly arts.
However, since so many of us were raised to serve all others before ourselves (myself included!), most women suck at receiving… and have forgotten how magical we are.
Practicing these feminine skills grants us access to a deep wellspring of power. The story of Guinevere and King Arthur is the perfect example of this:
In her original form, "Gwenhwyfar," meaning "White One" or "White Phantom,” was a Celtic triple-goddess pre-dating Arthurian times, who - according to Dr. Virtue - “was a powerful goddess invoked for both fertility and as a bridge to take the dead to the afterlife plane.”
To fully claim his power, King Arthur needed to embrace Guinevere, or the Divine Feminine.
To claim your feminine means connecting with, and showing up as, ALL of who you are.
In the next few weeks, I will share THREE tools to bring more romance into your life, based on Guinevere’s message. Stay tuned for my next video!
